Alpha of Kansas - since 1890

Thank you for nominating a student for the second annual Phi Beta Kappa Book Award for first-year students!

The Phi Beta Kappa Alpha Chapter of Kansas announces the second round of its new award in recognition of excellent first-year KU students. The chapter will give book awards to three students—one enrolled in UNIV 101, one enrolled in HNRS 190, and one enrolled in a first-year seminar—in recognition of accomplishments in their first semester at KU.

We ask that instructors of these courses nominate up to two students they believe exhibit intellectual curiosity across the liberal arts, as well as academic success. Each nomination should be no more than 150 words and submitted online by December 30, 2017. February 1, 2018 (deadline extended!)

All students will receive an email congratulating them on their strong performance in their first semester. The winners will select a book from the Phi Beta Kappa Book Award short list and be publicly recognized February 20, 2018, at the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar lecture by Mary Miller.

Please tell us about your first-year students who show academic motivation and intellectual curiosity!
