Induction Ceremony RSVP

We are excited to welcome you to the nation’s oldest, most prestigious academic honorary society. 

Please come to the Big XII Room in the Kansas Union at 7:30 am on May 13. Your guests may go straight to Woodruff Auditorium to pick their seats. We do not have a limit on the number of guests.

Seniors: you may wear your graduation regalia.

Juniors or others not in regalia: please wear business or business casual dress.

Parking: Parking is free on campus throughout the day. We recommend parking in the Mississippi Street garage next to the Union.

In the Big XII Room: You will sign the register, make sure your name card is fully filled out, and then get your portrait taken. 

We will then ask you to line up in the hallway for procession into the auditorium. Seniors will process first, followed by juniors.

Ceremony: We will process into the auditorium and ask you to remain standing until the President seats you. During the ceremony, you will be asked to come on stage to shake hands with the President and Chancellor Girod. Photos will also be taken during this portion of the ceremony. After shaking hands, you will continue across the stage to the back stage area, where you will pick up your membership certificate. You may want to make sure you or one of your guests has a good way to store the certificate after the ceremony

Reception: You will process out following the stage party at the conclusion of the ceremony. There will bea reception back in the BIG XII Room, which is a great time to get photos with members of the stage party and friends.

We are usually done before 9:30. Members of the Stage Party play roles in the main Commencement ceremony, so we keep the Phi Beta Kappa ceremony short but sweet to ensure that everyone can participate. 

Unable to participate? We would still like to make sure you sign our chapter register and get your certificate, and will schedule times for that later in May. If you will not be in Lawrence, let us know your forwarding address. 

Still need to pay? Checks should be made to Phi Beta Kappa - Kansas Alpha and sent to the Office of Fellowships,1300 Sunnyside Ave, Summerfield Hall #222, Lawrence, KS, 66045.
